About K.A.N.

I am K.A.N.

Karyn A. Nash

I am the wife to a wonderful husband and mother to a crazy baby boy. We have now been married for 4 years! It seems insane that it has been that long, but it has been the best time of my life. My husband and I graduated college in May 2013. He graduated with a bachelor of science degree in computer science and I graduated in mechanical engineering. I am currently at home taking care of Baby O and my husband is doing graduate school, headed for a master's in game engineering.

The first time I learned to sew was from my mom. She taught me how to make a pillowcase. At the end of that, she exclaimed that she was never driving with me. Needless to say, I have improved on my sewing skills and I consider myself a fine driver.

While my husband was doing an internship in the summer of 2011, I had some free time and decided I wanted to make a jean quilt. While I was searching for some direction, I came across a few crafting blogs. I have always enjoyed making things, but that summer was when I discovered my love for crafting. My fabric stash and craft supply have increased tremendously since...all the while my free time has been ever decreasing. I have made things to be proud of and things that look much nicer in the trash. I believe that crafting (and life) is all about learning from mistakes, and I am continually learning every day.

  1. Hello. I am a new Nana and very excited as my little Grandson is coming from the Cayman Islands to visit me in South Africa in June. I have been looking at making him a quiet book and came across your Noah's Ark, which looks wonderful. I see the other posts are all dated 2016 so I'm hoping that you are still on this page, and would be able to let me have a copy of Noah's animals patterns. Looking forward to hearing drom you. 2. Karyn, I'm here for the same reason and found you in the same way as Teresa! I'd also love a copy of the animal patterns if they're still around after all these years. :)

Teresa, so sweet of you to make your grandson a quiet book. I'm sure he will love it, and what a special handmade treasure for him to hang onto!
